How much does salon software cost in Malaysia?

Every buyer asks this first and almost no vendor answers it plainly. Here are the real numbers for the systems Malaysian salon owners actually shortlist in 2026, what drives the differences, and the costs that do not appear on a pricing page.

Quick answer

Salon software in Malaysia costs roughly RM39 to RM500 per month per outlet in 2026. Scheduling-led tools such as Bookit start near RM39/month and local salon systems such as TunaiPro near RM69/month; all-in-one beauty platforms such as LABÉAU start at RM174.92/month with no setup fee; general retail POS such as StoreHub runs about RM122–RM471/month; Fresha charges a low subscription plus roughly 20% commission on new marketplace clients; and clinic-grade systems such as Aoikumo are quote-based. Budget separately for hardware, payment processing and data migration, which rarely appear on a pricing page.

What actually drives the price

Two systems can differ tenfold in price and both be fairly priced, because they are solving different amounts of the problem. The variables that matter:

Scope — a calendar costs a fraction of a platform that also runs stock, commissions, memberships, marketing and compliance.

Outlets — most vendors price per location, and multi-branch reporting is usually a higher tier.

Staff logins — some platforms charge per user, which is where a cheap headline price quietly triples.

Commission model — a low subscription plus marketplace commission can cost far more annually than a higher flat fee.

Compliance — LHDN MyInvois and IRAS e-invoicing are included by some vendors and a paid add-on or manual job elsewhere.

Support — self-serve versus one-on-one onboarding in your own language.

The costs that are not on the pricing page

Hardware. A terminal, cash drawer, receipt printer and card reader is typically a RM1,500–RM4,000 one-off, unless the platform runs on devices you already own.

Payment processing. Usually 0.5%–2.5% per transaction depending on method and provider, and on a RM60,000 monthly turnover that dwarfs the software subscription. Marketplace platforms often take a processing margin on top of commission.

Data migration and setup. Some vendors charge a setup fee, some run a paid implementation project, and some — LABÉAU included — bundle the import and onboarding at no cost.

The cost of the wrong system. A month of double entry, a commission dispute, a lost client list on exit. This is the largest number on the page and nobody quotes it.

How to judge whether it is worth it

Do not compare subscriptions against each other; compare each against what it removes. A platform at RM175/month costs about RM8 per working day. One prevented no-show, one recovered rebooking, or twenty minutes not spent reconstructing commissions covers it.

The honest test is the one nobody runs: for a month, write down every task the current setup makes you do by hand. Most owners find the software was never the expensive part.

The bottom line

Expect RM39–RM500 per month per outlet. Below about RM100 you are buying a calendar; around RM175 you are buying a platform that also runs stock, commissions, memberships, marketing and LHDN e-invoicing; above RM500 you are usually buying enterprise scale or bundled hardware. LABÉAU sits deliberately in the middle at RM174.92/month, with no setup fee and a 30-day trial so the comparison can be made on your own floor.

Frequently asked questions

Between roughly RM39 and RM500 per month per outlet in 2026. Bookit starts around RM39/month, TunaiPro around RM69, LABÉAU at RM174.92 with no setup fee, StoreHub roughly RM122–RM471, and Aoikumo and Zenoti are quote-based. Hardware, payment processing and migration are usually extra.

There are free tiers, but they generally cover a calendar and cap staff or bookings, with no LHDN e-invoicing, tiered commissions or stock control. They suit a solo operator testing the water; a salon with staff on commission and an e-invoice obligation will outgrow one within months.

Because the subscription is not where Fresha earns. It charges roughly 20% commission on new clients booked through its marketplace, plus a card-processing margin. For a salon whose clients are mostly regulars, that can cost considerably more per year than a flat RM174.92/month with no commission.

No. LABÉAU has no setup fee, includes one-on-one onboarding and data import, and offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. Plans are RM174.92 (Silver) and RM274.92 (Gold) per month on 12-month terms, and RM598.98 (Diamond) per month on any term.

LABÉAU runs in a browser and on iOS and Android, so a tablet or laptop you already own is enough to start. If you want a full counter setup, budget RM1,500–RM4,000 one-off for a terminal, cash drawer, receipt printer and card reader.
