e-Invoice for aesthetic clinics in Malaysia (2026)

Aesthetic clinics sell fewer, larger tickets than salons, so the MyInvois rules that a walk-in haircut never touches — the RM10,000 limit, group ownership, corporate payers, refunds on unused sessions — are the ones a clinic meets every week. Here is where your clinic stands after the 1 September 2026 change, how the clinic-specific rules work, and how to get e-invoicing running without learning the portal yourself.

Quick answer

An aesthetic clinic in Malaysia must issue e-invoices through LHDN MyInvois if its annual turnover is RM3 million or more, or if a related company — a holding company, corporate shareholder or sister clinic in the same group — is at that level. Independently owned clinics below RM3 million are exempt from 1 September 2026 and may take part voluntarily. There is no separate exemption for medical or aesthetic treatments. For clinics in scope, walk-in sales can go on one consolidated e-invoice a month, but any single sale above RM10,000, such as a prepaid laser or skin course, needs its own e-invoice. LABÉAU sets up MyInvois with you free of charge and files e-invoices from checkout on every plan, alongside the clinic records — consent forms, before/after photos and doctor and treatment notes — on the same system. Plans from RM174.92/month with a 7-day free trial.

Does your clinic still need to e-invoice?

On 30 August 2026 LHDN raised the exemption threshold from RM1 million to RM3 million in annual turnover, with effect from 1 September 2026. Many single-outlet clinics that started e-invoicing in January are now exempt and can stop without applying to LHDN. Enter your turnover below to see where you stand.

Exempt since 1 September 2026

An independently owned business under RM3 million a year is exempt. Participation is voluntary, and a business already issuing e-invoices can stop without applying to LHDN.

Based on LHDN e-Invoice guideline version 4.8 (published 30 August 2026, effective 1 September 2026). A guide, not tax advice — your accountant has the final word.

Why more clinics stay in scope than salons

Turnover is only half of the test. The exemption does not apply where a corporate shareholder, holding company, related company or joint venture partner turns over RM3 million or more. Aesthetic clinics are far more often part of a group than hair salons are — a doctor who owns several clinics through one company, a chain with a holding company, or a clinic that shares ownership with a skincare distributor — so a small outlet can stay in scope because of who owns it.

Check the group position with your accountant before switching e-invoicing off. Once a business is in scope, its implementation date is not reset if its revenue later falls.

The four clinic-specific rules

Treatment courses above RM10,000: since 1 January 2026, any single transaction above RM10,000 needs its own e-invoice and cannot go on the monthly consolidated e-invoice. A prepaid laser, HIFU or skin programme paid in one go often crosses that line.

Corporate and insurance payers: when a company or insurer pays for a client’s treatment, capture its TIN and details at checkout and issue an individual validated e-invoice to it.

Deposits and instalments: agree with your accountant when a deposit or instalment is invoiced, set that rule once in the system, and let the front desk follow it rather than decide each time.

Unused sessions and refunds: when a course is cancelled or partly refunded, issue a credit or refund note against the original e-invoice rather than deleting or editing the sale.

Is a doctor-led clinic treated differently?

No. MyInvois scope is decided by turnover and group structure, not by whether a treatment is medical or cosmetic, so a doctor-led medical aesthetic clinic and a non-medical skin centre follow the same rules. What differs is the paperwork around the sale: a medical practice keeps consent, photographs and treatment notes as part of practising safely, and the e-invoice is the commercial record that sits alongside them.

That is why it pays to keep both in one system. When the consent form, the before/after photos, the doctor’s notes, the course balance and the e-invoice all hang off the same client record, a disputed result or an audit question is answered from one screen.

Free MyInvois setup for your clinic

LABÉAU sets up MyInvois with you at no charge, and e-invoicing is included on every plan, so there is no separate e-invoice provider fee.

1. We walk you through authorising LABÉAU as your intermediary in the MyInvois portal with your business TIN.

2. Your treatments, courses, packages and skincare retail are set up with the classification MyInvois expects.

3. We go through the RM10,000 rule with your front desk, so a large course is issued its own e-invoice and never lands on the consolidated one.

4. Clients and companies who ask for an e-invoice get an individual validated e-invoice from the checkout screen.

5. Walk-in sales are rolled into the monthly consolidated e-invoice, ready to submit within seven days after month end.

6. Cancelled courses and refunds become credit or refund notes against the original e-invoice.

Clinic records on the same system

An e-invoice service on its own fixes one problem. LABÉAU runs the rest of the clinic on the same record: consent forms signed against the treatment, before/after photos kept with each session, doctor and treatment notes, multi-session course balances the front desk can trust, devices and rooms scheduled so a laser is never double-booked, practitioner commission calculated at checkout, and WhatsApp recall when a client drifts past their next session. Plans from RM174.92/month with a 7-day free trial and no setup fee.

The bottom line

Check your turnover and your group structure first: many independent clinics are exempt from 1 September 2026, while group-owned clinics often are not. If you are in scope, or your corporate clients ask for e-invoices, LABÉAU sets MyInvois up free, files from checkout on every plan, and keeps consent forms, photos, treatment notes and course balances on the same client record.

Not if your clinic system is connected to MyInvois, because it acts as your provider. LABÉAU sets up MyInvois with you free of charge and includes e-invoicing on every plan, issuing individual and consolidated e-invoices from checkout with no separate portal.

Each single sale above RM10,000 needs its own e-invoice and cannot go on the monthly consolidated e-invoice. A prepaid laser, HIFU or skin course paid in one transaction is the usual case in a clinic. With LABÉAU the individual e-invoice is issued from the same checkout screen.

No. MyInvois scope depends on turnover and group structure, not on whether the treatment is medical. A doctor-led clinic and a non-medical beauty clinic follow the same thresholds and rules.

Issue a credit or refund note against the original e-invoice for the value refunded, rather than deleting or editing the original sale. With LABÉAU the course balance and the e-invoice live on the same client record, so the refund and the note stay in step.

Yes. LABÉAU keeps consent forms, before/after photos, and doctor and treatment notes against the client record, alongside course balances, device and room scheduling, practitioner commission and MyInvois e-invoicing. Plans start from RM174.92/month with a 7-day free trial.
