Do I need to issue e-invoices? MyInvois checker for salons, spas and clinics
The e-invoicing rules changed twice in 2026, and many salon owners were told in January that they had to comply and have not heard since that most of them no longer do. Enter your turnover and answer two questions to see where your business stands today.
Quick answer
A Malaysian salon, spa or clinic must issue e-invoices through LHDN MyInvois if its annual turnover is RM3 million or more, or if it belongs to a group where a related company turns over RM3 million or more. Since 1 September 2026 an independently owned business below RM3 million is exempt and may take part voluntarily. Businesses in scope can put walk-in sales on one consolidated e-invoice per month, but any single sale above RM10,000 needs its own e-invoice. LABÉAU has MyInvois built into every plan, so a growing salon is ready either way.

Use your annual turnover — total revenue, not profit. If you have more than one outlet under the same company, add them together.

Exempt since 1 September 2026
An independently owned business under RM3 million a year is exempt. Participation is voluntary, and a business already issuing e-invoices can stop without applying to LHDN.

The rules the checker uses
Turnover of RM3 million or more: in scope — issue e-invoices through MyInvois.
Below RM3 million and independently owned: exempt with effect from 1 September 2026 (LHDN guideline version 4.8, published 30 August 2026). A business that started in January can stop without applying to LHDN.
Below RM3 million but with a corporate shareholder, holding company, related company or joint venture partner at RM3 million or more: the exemption does not apply. This catches some franchise and group-owned outlets.
Once a business is in scope, its implementation date is not reset if revenue later falls.
If you are in scope: three rules for the counter
Walk-in clients who do not ask for an e-invoice can go on one consolidated e-invoice per month, submitted within 7 calendar days after the month ends.
Any single transaction above RM10,000 — a large aesthetic course or prepaid package — needs its own e-invoice and cannot be consolidated.
A client who asks for an e-invoice, often a company paying for staff treatments, needs their tax details captured at checkout and an individual validated e-invoice.
If you are exempt: should you e-invoice anyway?
Sometimes. Corporate clients increasingly ask for a validated e-invoice to claim the expense, and a salon that expects to pass RM3 million — through a second outlet, say — saves itself a rushed change later by having the system ready now. If neither applies, you can leave it switched off and keep normal receipts.
How LABÉAU handles e-invoicing
Salon systems differ here more than anywhere else. TunaiPro, Bookit, Aoikumo and StoreHub support LHDN e-invoicing to varying degrees; Idle states that it does not submit to MyInvois; Fresha does not support LHDN e-invoicing.
LABÉAU issues individual validated e-invoices and consolidated walk-in e-invoices to MyInvois directly from checkout, with no separate portal, on every plan. A Singapore branch is covered too: IRAS InvoiceNow is built in. Plans start at RM174.92/month, with a 7-day free trial and no card.
