Multiply the number of clients holding a package by the average sessions they have left, then by the value of one session (the package price divided by its number of sessions). For example, 180 clients × 4 sessions × RM90 is RM64,800 of prepaid work still owed.

Salon package liability calculator
Every prepaid package is money in the bank for work you have not done yet. Most owners know how much package revenue they sold last month; far fewer know how many sessions they still owe, what those sessions are worth, or how long it would take the team to deliver them. Enter five numbers and you will have all three.
Quick answer
To calculate a salon’s package liability, multiply the number of clients holding a package by the average sessions they have left and by the value of one session (package price ÷ sessions). A spa with 180 clients holding an average of 4 sessions worth RM90 each owes 720 sessions, worth RM64,800. At 260 package sessions redeemed a month that is about 2.8 months of prepaid work, and at 10% commission RM6,480 still to pay therapists. LABÉAU tracks every package balance to the session at the counter, from RM174.92/month.

Calculate your unredeemed package value
The fields start on a typical mid-sized Malaysian spa. Your package or membership report is the best source: count the clients with a balance, and average what they have left.

Value per session is the package price divided by its sessions, not the walk-in price. The cash for these sessions has already been received; the treatments, therapist time and commission are still to come.
How the calculation works
Sessions still owed is clients holding a package × average sessions left. Unredeemed value is that × the value of one session, where the value of a session is what the client paid for the package divided by the sessions in it — a 10-session package sold for RM900 is RM90 a session, even if the walk-in price is RM120.
Months of prepaid work ahead is sessions owed ÷ package sessions redeemed per month. It tells you how much of the next few months’ diary has already been paid for, which matters when you plan cash, hiring and promotions.
Commission still to pay applies your per-session commission rate to the unredeemed value. Most salons pay therapist commission when a session is delivered, not when the package is sold, so that cost is still ahead of you.
Why the number matters
Cash is not profit. Package money arrives up front, but the therapist time, products and commission arrive later. A busy package month can hide a thin month to come.
Promotions add to it. A year-end package sale lifts this month’s takings and the liability at the same time; check how many months of work you are pre-selling.
Accountants treat it as money owed. Under the usual revenue rules, payment for sessions not yet delivered is recorded as a liability until each session is used. Ask your accountant how they treat your packages and any expiry terms.
Disputes start at the counter. A client who believes they have three sessions left when the system says one is a lost client. A balance both sides can see settles it.
How LABÉAU handles packages and memberships
Salon systems differ here. Aoikumo and WESS handle packages well, while Fresha and Booksy offer only limited package handling. In LABÉAU the package balance lives on the client record and is redeemed at checkout, so the counter and the client’s own Member app show the same number of sessions left. Packages and memberships are included on every plan, with commission calculated when each session is delivered.
Because every redemption is recorded, the unredeemed balance across all clients is a report rather than a spreadsheet exercise. Plans start at RM174.92/month on a 12-month plan, with a 7-day free trial and no card.
Unredeemed package value at three business sizes
| Business | Clients with a package | Sessions owed | Unredeemed value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small beauty studio | 60 | 240 | RM21,600 |
| Mid-sized spa | 180 | 720 | RM64,800 |
| Clinic or two outlets | 400 | 1,600 | RM144,000 |
Each row assumes an average of 4 sessions left and RM90 per session. Use the calculator above for your own figures.

The package price per session. The client paid the package price, so that is what the business owes in treatments; the walk-in price would overstate the figure.
Not until the session is delivered, under the usual revenue rules: money received for sessions not yet used is normally recorded as a liability and recognised as each session is redeemed. Confirm the treatment of your packages, including any expiry terms, with your accountant.
